WHO IS
ST. PAULS?

The St. Pauls cooperative winery is located in the village of St. Pauls (San Paolo), a hamlet of Eppan an der Weinstraße, (Appiano sulla Strada del Vino in Italian or “Eppan on the Wine Trail”), a commune located about eight kilometers southwest of Bozen (Bolzano) in South Tyrol (Alto Adige).

With roughly 150 grower members, the cooperative covers 175 hectares planted to vine, with an average of one hectare per grower, making it a true “family affair” since all of the members are family-owned and run farms. With vineyard sites that range from 500-700 meters a.s.l. and a variety of subsoils mostly volcanic and morainic in origin, the cooperative is uniquely positioned to make some of the best and most critically acclaimed wines in South Tyrol. One of the things that makes St. Pauls stand apart from the crowded field of Tyrolean winemakers is that its focus is on native grape varieties.

Although it also grows delicious Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Pauls is renowned for its bottlings of local red grapes like Schiava and Lagrein, varieties not forgotten but often overlooked by commercially minded winemakers there. Although not certified, organic farming practices are the norm for its growers.

What people say?
My first pinot bianco, won't be my last. Stone fruit on the nose and palate - peach, nectarine, a bit of nashi pear. Like chardonnay and Pinot Gris had a baby. Clean rounded finish. Good weight and mouthfeel. Very solid drop.

Good good! Especially the aroma, bewitching and rich. Not bad at all in the mouth either, just a little sour
